“You know why the Democrats keep losing? Because we don’t have conviction in our politics. We don’t have inspiration in our politics. We get people there for 50 years who read the same scripts, put out the same bland statements. GET OUT!!! Let a new generation lead. You’ve been ineffective. The base doesn’t like you. The base wants fighters. The base wants people with moral vision…”
-Ro Khanna (D)
As I mentioned at the last Council meeting, I’m running for Congress again. I have used the quote above to explain some of the motivation for my campaign, along with details of being involved with our union, and experience as a member of the Director’s Guild…and to explain how I am now an independent (NPP) candidate…
I am a 42 year union veteran with the DGA and three times elected to the AD/SM/PA Council in the last 15 years. I am an advocate and outspoken member for collective bargaining, increasing union membership, as well as a tireless believer in wages, not just keeping pace with inflation, but surpassing cost of living increases, to narrow income and wealth inequality…along with the unquestionable need for AI protections in our film and television industry that transcends economic concerns to humanitarian ones as well.
All of this, and including a dire need to address corruption and campaign finance reform in our politics brings us here…to “DEFUNDING POLITICS” as a slogan again.
Anti-corruption laws go unenforced by a federal Elections Commission hopelessly mired in gridlock and unwilling to do its job as both parties embrace an everescalating political arms race.
We are funding our demise! Corruption is Donald Trump’s religion.
The broken campaign finance system gives undue influence to lobbyists, corporate interest and the wealthiest Americans (Techno Fascists and Oligarchs), while the majority of Americans lack a seat at the table…thinking their country will never again prove itself loyal to their values.
In defunding politics we will welcome back Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike, to America’s identity and ideals, and America will prove itself worthy of being called the UNITED Stages again.
But above everything else, and as I said at the last council meeting, if you live and can vote in the 32nd District, I really cannot think of anyone more qualified to act as your representative than a 42 year veteran of the Guild, who will continue to look out for our best interests and knows so much about what it’s like working and thriving in Los Angeles, hopefully well into the future.
