I Really Do Care, Don’t You?

It probably will come as no surprise that I have been disappointed by the Guild yet again.

The post by President Schlamme about the importance of voting falls short, as so much of what the Guild does, to adequately speak to the issues we are facing in America right now. Most of you realize I believe the DGA is not addressing wage stagnation and inequity in any serious way. But there are other issues for or against which we, as a union, should be strongly united. I will continue to write and speak about them whenever I can.

I’m sure it’ll be said that it isn’t the Guild’s standing to ever back or sponsor candidates in an election, but that is just purely not good enough! I seem to think that is exactly what unions have always historically done. I don’t know what makes us any different.

I.A.T.S.E. has come out strongly in support of Biden/Harris and that is what makes me so critical of our lack of a political position and strong stance in the matters. I personally feel that the Guild should take a stance against Fox News and publicly question their lack of credibility in factual news broadcasting, but that’s a subject for another time, if ever.

Luckily, my family and close friends all have already voted. I am also lucky to say that we are all proud Democrats, so little convincing has been needed.

We all know how important this election is, but I still am trying to do everything I can think of to make sure we turn out to vote and put an end to the Trump/Pence administration and their corruption that is doing nothing less than threatening our democratic ideals in almost every way possible.

It may not be that crucial in California or New York, but if you have friends and relatives in other parts of the country, please do whatever you can to get them to participate…and hopefully support the candidate who will win the majority of votes this time, and help unify our country and re-establish a respect for us around the globe.
